Institute Hires Executive Director in Washington, D.C.

The Institute is pleased to announce that Frederick Cedoz has come aboard filling the role of executive director in our Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Cedoz is a cum laude graduate of the University of Dayton with Bachelors degrees in Political Science and History. He received his Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America and was most recently employed by a law firm in Washington before joining IASPS.

"I am excited by the opportunity afforded me by Dr. Loewenberg and the Institute's trustees. We have an extremely important mission and I intend to see that we succeed in all aspects of our operations." Mr. Cedoz's primary task, aside from handling the administrative functioning of the Washington office, will be to coordinate the Institute's Strategic Fellows Program.

Going into its third year, the Strategic Fellows Program seeks to train top Israeli and American scholars in strategic topics such as: missile defense, the politics of natural resources, and understanding what is to come from the new Russia.

Following a rigorous two-month training period, the scholars are placed in Capitol Hill offices to learn first hand how the American political system works. "The Strategic Program will play a vital role in training tomorrow's policy makers in subjects often neglected by their universities."

Mr. Cedoz is also focusing his energy on the rapidly changing environment in which policy research institutes operate. "Even think tanks are affected by the advancement of the Internet. We must build on the Institute's award-winning website by advancing its status as the best site of its kind for content while bringing new and informative content to the viewers." In the coming months the Institute's homepage will be undergoing a modest redesign. "The best way for the Institute to increase our exposure and get our message out is to expand our presence on the Internet."

Mr. Cedoz resides in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife Jennifer. Comments or questions about the Strategic Fellows Program or anything relating to the operation of the Institute can be addressed to Frederick Cedoz, Executive Director, 1020 16th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20036. Or you can contact him via e-mail: fcedoz@iasps.org
