Here follows, in two short paragraphs (a page), all that is required of introductory information to understand why the Health legislation of America’s first dictator, Mr. Obama, is the completion of democratic order. President Obama is the premier democrat of the age.
The irony or the would-be irony of OpenSociety order, of democracy, is there is no debate or differences of opinion on anything, this even though the self-understanding is the reverse. But this is a “would-be irony” because it is supposed to be this way. At the point of its source OpenSociety is democratic speech and life. Its intentionality, Speech itself, is democratic order as a function or reciprocal of science. Not only is science responsible for the uniformity of thought and opinion in democrat order, this uniformity turns upon speech as incoherent. More still, this incoherence is what democracy is. Democracy is the sole truth of Speech is contradiction. It is social science, the Speech Elites overall, whose mission it is to instill incoherence or, which is the same thing, to instill democracy. Now the reverse is true as well. Democracy is the Speech of science, suited to its purpose. Since it is this purpose of the Health care legislation, and of Mr. Obama and his Speech Elites, it is extremely valuable to apply the first of several pertinent quotations from, and about the Founders.
“Enlightenment is an unprecedented type of political action undertaken by the founders of modern philosophy and continued by most of their followers….Enlightenment implies ‘open societies’ linked with each other….It is necessarily antithetical to any societies or elements in a society, that seek the autonomous cultivation and preservation of their own morality and way of life. Thus Enlightenment is by intention a universal politics, potentially of global magnitude, and the first of philosophic origin.”
This quotation, in addition to being a perfect snapshot of Richard Kennington’s famous essay showing that Descartes’ celebrated reputation “as ‘the founder of modern philosophy’”, also includes, as its meaning that the “new method” of politics “must be mathematical to be certain…. [It] required…mathematical physics and a corresponding determination of the soul.” Now it is just the Reciprocal relationship I have already mentioned which is the meaning of Enlightenment, or which is to say, this relationship is the meaning of the quotation defining Enlightenment as you see it here. Every word is true and correct. What is more, it makes understanding what is most pertinent or at stake in Mr. Obama’s Health care legislation. It explains what makes him the first dictator ever to hold the office of President of the U.S. therein to be the one completing its purpose as democracy.
Here now following, again in a very few short paragraphs (3 pages), is the body and conclusion needed for an adequate understanding of the end of American life as everyone knows it (excepting only what almost everyone has not known or understood about what democracy, the OpenSociety is. But, even so, this requires only the smallest discrimination between what a thing means as opposed to what it “is”).
Obama’s Heath care legislation is intended to legalize the World State. The “is” aspect of this is legislation is distinct from policies even though they too have the same World State meaning. The World State is the active phase of Enlightenment political order. It has two phases, active and passive. This is not big news, but for the form of it –which is Thought in the meaning of mathematical physics (I won’t get into much here). But the content of this form requires only that we take note of our everyday experience. It is really we who are the content. Others of our quotations will show this.
This next quotation defines the transition from the passive phase of OpenSociety itself, or democracy, to the active phase of OpenSociety or the World State, again itself, or democracy. “The liberal state [the passive phase of OpenSociety] cannot provide a solution to the…problem of [discrimination], for such a solution would require the legal prohibition against every kind of ‘discrimination,’ that is, the abolition of the private sphere, the denial of the difference between state and society [i.e., state=society and Self], the destruction of the liberal state.” In sum, “the destruction of the liberal state [OpenSociety or OpenSociety passive phase or representative government…{,}]stands or falls by the distinction between state and society or by the recognition of a private sphere, protected by the law but impervious to the law….” Our impulse is to know that this “destruction” is a bad thing for OpenSociety, and resisted by it as totalitarianism. But OpenSociety, democracy, is none other than its completion. (I have never encountered a Progressive Intellectual who thinks otherwise, although this is said to be the result of Kojeve. He is the “Hegel Superior” to the Progressive Intellectuals. Closest ally of Heidegger as well as the greatest ever revealer of Hegel, including to Voegelin, Kojeve (although a communist) credits Hitler and Nazism with the democratization of the post-[French] Revolutionary world.) In sum, there is no basis for any tender hesitations about completion.)
Consult Kennington’s accurate and precise truth about the largest human bodies as against the singling of this conception. It is the OpenSociety completed. We, not unlike the Frenchmen confronting the guillotine, the Marquis de Sade and Robespierre (as well as journalists turned Speech radicals), see the active phase as aberration. But this is the passive phase speaking. We have just seen what this destruction is. It is the necessity to accommodate OpenSociety’s always inevitably progressive indiscriminacy, the very basis of which is indiscriminacy. Speech incoherence reciprocal for Science (Certainty) is the inevitable motion of Enlightenment order. And indeed, why should this not be the case? [I could not also point out, in its proper context above, that this incoherent basis in our Speech is still deeper in science. Science intentionality is not translatable to Speech at all. In addition to all else, and for reasons of space (and perhaps some complexity beyond our purpose here), this untranslatability exceeds Speech incoherence by actually identifying subject and object, eliminating image such that things and what they are are the same. This --the Thing in Itself-- is beyond us here.]
But for all of this, we still have our everyday experience. This is adequate, supposing a person can distinguish what it all means bravely enough, if only for a second, to consider what “it all is.” Although we are taught to prize freedom and equality, in a word democracy and OpenSociety, taking these into our pores such that we are the realizations of these, bafflers and in fact enemies of each living human Self, there is a sighting possible of what it is. Start with representative government, the government of rights. The incoherence here is physical. Democrat rights teaching is nothing but the absence of all but science Telos. Hobbes tells us this means there can exist “no…Finis ultimus…nor Summum Bonum…[n]or can a man any more live, whose Desires are at an end…. I put…in the first place…for a generall inclination of all mankind, a perpetual and restlesse desire of Power after power, that ceaseth only in death”.
It is very hard to visualize what it is to require the legal prohibition against every kind of ‘discrimination,’ that is, the abolition of the private sphere. But every person knows, our society like all other Western societies in the Enlightenment course pursues, on purpose of Certainty this same purpose. Do we not say Zero toleration for intolerance? This is exactly the truth of the thing. This purpose is absolute and perfect incoherence because the purpose “must be mathematical to be certain…. [this requiring]…mathematical physics and a corresponding determination of the soul.” The determination is the elimination of the private or, to put it in a somewhat more familiar idiom, the “elimination of the private” is absolute freedom. But realization of this, its “concretization”, is the interchangeability of the right in Self. Passive phase Selfs are seeped and nurtured in this. Consider the seduction of public nudity.
This purpose, and the entirety of the purpose in the Certainty whose corresponding determination of the soul is this nudity is not more than an apriori deduction. In particular, it is from infinite Nothing (absolute space) such that because “nothing has a permanent place, [men shall rightly determine that] except as determined by our thought” Nothing is really all there is. This is part of what permits Descartes, as here, to proceed as he does. As a result (Science) Certainty has forced a silencing of all. Effected by this, the “and parcel” of its part is Descartes’ own mathesis universalis. As transcendent, therefore to our “times”, it is this Certainty which is actual and also sole human Telos. Moreover, we do not often recall to ourselves this entire edifice is reared upon deep and blackest corporeality, dust in fact, into which has been insinuated as otherwise both indeterminate and mechanical what is little better than a gimmick of conceptualization. This is Second Intention. A man’s transcendent concept of multitude, for this reason science’s Pure Intellect is capable only of this concept as multitudinousness, that is as grasping a one time only species of magnitude no longer multitude at all, has invented (of this concept) a Thing.
Realized, this Being of Reason (the ens rationis) is the actual being which “presupposes body” (general number or the algebraic numerus), finally to be the indiscriminate Thing at the same time it is the knowledge of it. This describes figural representation, as object to, and subject of infinitely divisible identities to infinity, mathematical physics generates the proportions and ratios. In this way are such things as rockets found. But just this Thought is the necessary condition of Science, therein of Enlightenment. Although ordinary men experience fixities in existence where science sets these findings and rockets, the most that such a one as Planck will admit to in the Whole is -- (here with respect to Thermodynamics) -- the principle of “elementary disorder”. Disguised, too, in this principle is the perfect atheism of Enlightenment. As for what is really, only science sees. For example, figural representation or what is both symbol (image and thing), and the thing symbolized (thing and symbol). This is perhaps why appearances are always false. This is Cartesian certainty.
The acceleration into the active phase, i.e., to Enlightenment order for its completion, that is, the completion of multiculturalism, multiracialism, in a word, the completion of OpenSociety, it requires elimination of every fixity. First is Self. After and with Self it is the large human bodies, or that in which Western peoples consist, but prior to Enlightenment, thus --nations, states, societies of all sorts (including the higher forms, which are families and tribes of families). But this Whole is based in the prime fixity which is the fixed or given Self. In Self is constituted its own constituent fixities (just named) insuring the private as precedent, even in tyrannies. Compare this with Enlightenment experienced. Consider Dr. Venter (genome-DNA). He promises Self without mother or father. This is how it dawns in us and by us that the Leader comes along to accelerate the passive phase into the active phase. The private is no longer impervious to the law.
Only realize that public nudity, displaying of the privates (an incoherence) is the very particular “effort…[you must make] if you would be republicans” that the Marquis de Sade pressed his fellow Frenchmen to make on Bastille day One. Inspect this notion and you will confront representative government as it was conceived and intended for the active phase; for completion. Of course this is the interchangeability of Self as the completion of rights teaching. It is just this, and only this, that presses Obama and the convergent Elites he now incarnates, those of Western peoples and of Islam at the forefront of the World State, to insure global Health care.
Of course it cannot be that we see any of this, for example, that the founder of this rights teaching had himself to see that Enlightenment “must be mathematical to be certain…. [It] required…mathematical physics and a corresponding determination of the soul.” Or that representative government is the purpose it serves, that this government should become “a doctrine which has revolutionized human life everywhere on a scale never yet approached by any other teaching.” Our experience tells us this sort of thing, as teaching, must mean this writer must really have meant there cannot exist any Self, and that the words “to be” and the reality of them must be eliminated. He did mean this; and wrote it. But if you see a president of the United States strive, and his Elites, the Speech Elites to legalize the identification of Self and Society in a health care bill –global order, in which the State and the Self are one thing – you are experiencing this teaching --as he and the Elites also are. You are experiencing the acceleration of the active phase now within the passive phase which surely is what it is. It is this because it is realized in each man. We are brought to these things (as the first OpenSociety revolutionaries were) because of the necessary condition in Science (Certainty), and its Reciprocal action in Speech. It's not the economy, stupid! It's the transcendence.
The teaching Enlightenment is is transcendence. The incoherence I have spelled out here arises in the transcendence of experience. I can only show you this in the words of another of the Founders of it what this is. Here writing about Descartes’ teaching (it is the universal mathematics, the mathesis universalis), is the transcendent thing within this incoherence. These words on this subject, themselves the action of unity and interchangeability, are indispensable. “…the notion found in Descartes’ metaphysics that being and thought are inherently the same; …the thought that being, pure being, is not a concrete actual reality, but pure abstraction, and conversely that pure thought, self-identity…, is partly the negative [i.e., replacement given Being by means of Speech –so-called “nihilated as Time”] of self-consciousness, and consequently is being, and…is likewise nothing else than being. Thought is thinghood, or thinghood is thought.”
The vote in the House on the Health care 11.7.09 was 220 to 215. The private sphere no longer exists as a legal place of Being. This even if it fails in the Senate. Obama’s purpose, as the accelerator of this completion of the passive phase thus to complete Enlightenment order, is to legalize “the destruction of the liberal state.” I think no one can reasonably think multiculturalism-multiracialism, OpenSociety itself with give way to the order of peoples. Cries of racism fill the land at every perturbation of the absolute space. Legalization of the active phase, this being the completion of the Whole in the Part (of representative government which is the sole form of political order fitted to Enlightenment) explains Obama’s great devotion to HR 3200. But what is the legalization of no-privacy?
“Gentlemen! We find ourselves in an important epoch [1806], a fermentation, in which Spirit has made a leap forward, has gone beyond its previous concrete form and acquired a new one. The whole mass of ideas and concepts that have been current until now, the very bonds of the world, are dissolved and collapsing [my italics] into themselves like a vision in a dream. A new emergence of Spirit is at hand…and the majority unconsciously constitute the matter in which it makes its appearance [my italics]. But philosophy, in recognizing it as what is eternal must pay homage to it.”
Recur to Kennington: “Thus Enlightenment is by intention a universal politics, potentially of global magnitude, and the first of philosophic origin.” Obama’s Health care is the legal collapse of Self, already actualized. It is realized in each of us. The active phase is here and the passive phase is complete. It’s official -- “…and the majority unconsciously constitute the matter in which it makes its appearance” –there is no place “to be”.
