IASPS announces the close of its successful Fellowship Program, and the end of its relationship with the Koret Foundation.
In 1994, IASPS set itself the goal of establishing an independent policy community in Israel by training a new kind of policy economist. Since then, dozens of Israel’s top postgraduates have won IASPS Koret Fellowships, and have been trained in hands-on policy research. They have published hundreds of op-eds in Israeli papers, nearly 100 IASPS Policy Studies, have served in the Knesset and Congress and been responsible for more economic reforms in Israel, most of all promoting liberation from Israel’s statism, than any body of individuals. The Institute for Advanced Strategic & Political Studies in Israel has in fact created Israel’s independent policy community. We are proud of this achievement and congratulate all who have participated in it.
This year’s class of Fellows, which completes its work July 31, 2003, will be the final class under Koret sponsorship. In its willingness to sponsor Israel’s distinguished Fellowship program in economics, most of all with its commitment to genuine and deep reform or what requires cessation of all U. S. aid, Koret deserves special praise for its courage.
When the Institute’s plans for the future here in Israel are firm, an announcement will appear on this site and in the press.
